Horseback Riding
Puerto Ricans have always had a special love of horses. The tradition of breeding and showing gentle Paso Fino horses has been maintained for generations and important horse shows are held each year. On weekends you will often encounter large groups of families and friends riding together through the country towns. You may even find a horse grazing next to a downtown shopping center! For a day at the races, El Comandante, in Canóvanas, is the only choice.
We can arrange horseback riding in the rainforest area and along beautiful beaches and trails. You can go horseback riding along a beautiful beach, follow a trail through a tropical rain forest, or amble through a coffee plantation high in the mountains. Several ranches rent horses by the hour.

Located in the town of Humacao, a 45-mintue bus ride from the pier, is the Ocean Trail Rides farm, located on the grounds of the Palmas del Mar Beach Resort. Upon arrival at the farm, guests will be greeted by friendly staff who will proceed to instruct guests on the proper techniques for riding a horse which will include a short lesson on how to handle a horse, saddle care, stops, turns, pace, etc. Once all the guests have mounted their horses, they will set out on a slow-paced ride on a slightly elevated trail with beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. You will now descend in elevation until reaching the beach where you will ride along the coast. At the conclusion of the ride, you will return to Palmas del Mar Beach Resort to relax and enjoy refreshments.
